Pine resin magnifying lens?

In a survival situation, do you think you could make/shape some sort of magnifying lens out of pine resin in order to start a fire? If so, how?

What are your thoughts?

Don't think this will fly... Even refined resin won't be clear enought and it would be near impossible IMHO to fashion it to the correct lens profile to focus sun-light and it would probably soften in the sunlight anyway [remember icarus...!]

If you want an emergency lens for fire lighting try some of these by Alan 'Bow' Beucamp - the king of firelighting in my opinion.
