I went up the Cobbler today, a mountain near arrochar.
New Meindl boots did the trick...first day on a trek, no blisters, dry feet :D

That’s great, did you have the whole place to yourself.
On the bird front I reckon Tony has it right on both counts. Ptarmigan/Snow Grouse = same thing.
The ironmongery in the tree is a forestry log hook. Looks like it’s been there for some time.
What happened to your bag?

Ahhh that makes sense, probably left by the planters years ago.
Ahh my bag was just over packed, I dont have a compressable mid layer at the moment so I had to take my tarp out and tie it onto my back so i could get it in...believe it or not I was sweating, was at the summit with only a thermal and waterproof layer on...spring is certainly here. Ground was thick with ticks though, unbelievably I havent found any yet...
Actually, I met a small group of Irish kids and a middle ages couple on the summit. It's quite a popular walk but, oddly, there is hardly any litter... I guess it doesn't attract many chavs dud to its remoteness. Then again I ascended the hard side (more forestry and steep) - the easy side might be worse off...
Good photos indeed. Looks like you had a most enjoyable hike.
