Hi guys,

I have been working at this for what seems like a long time. Finally I had a success which I am very pleased about. I did it inside because it was raining outside and you have to practise every day.

I wanted to stick to materials which I could find in my local area where I spend most of my time.

The drill is Elder and the hearth is clematis.

Hopefully this will help others in some way to conquer this very difficult but very rewarding technique.

I've corrected the typo :p

Well done! This is great to see :D I saw this video on YouTube & left a comment :) ... I've not tried Clematis for fire by friction, this inspires me to try it. I have used Ivy-wood at lot for hearths and like it.

Thanks for sharing bud.

Ivy for a hearth! Great! One plant I know. I've been trying to get rid of it in my garden for years.

great stuff BB, I have yet to experience fire by friction but hoping to sort that out very soon.

Was watching Dave Canterbury using a similar system on the Sky Dual Survival series and he rubbed his hands raw, so you did good...!
