This pie iron arrived from a certain Mr Sunshine’s shop. Priced at £16.99 + £2.99 P+P
Took it out to play at the weekend.

As it’s a pie iron the first thing I tried was (no not a pie) but a cheap and cheerful cheese, onion and tomato toastie with white bread.
First off butter the bread and lie it butter side down in the iron add you’re filling and then top with bread, butter side up. It also pays to butter the inside of the iron to prevent sticking.

As you can see the sliced bread is too big for the iron but it burns off or you can slice it off.
I’m pretty sure that most off us have suffered with red hot cheese stuck to your lip syndrome (RHCSTYLPS) at some time or other so I was prepared for that. What I wasn’t prepared for was the boiling hot tomato on the roof of your mouth shock. (BHTOTROYMS)
Fortunately a Mr JD of Tennessee has provided a solution to that problem in a convenient canned beverage.
Even so it was probably the best toastie I’ve tried.

Moving on, I now tried (no not a pie yet) something a bit more poncey, a ciabbatta bread pizza. The Aldi pruning saw worked a treat on the bread and soon they where ready for the fire.

Sadly they where a major disappointment.

Even the dog would only eat one bit turning its nose up at the other.
Now finally onto a pie. But what kind, steak and kidney, mince and onion, chicken and leek, fishermans ?
I went for the Sunday afternoon tea favourite, a Mr Kiplings apple. Or in this case a low cost supermarket own brand.
I heated them up. One in the foil and one without.

Nothing accompanies apple pies better than custard, so I pushed the boat out and bought a tin of Devon’s finest.

Another success, know wonder there on the menu at a certain Middleton/ William wedding. :rolleyes:
