i also have a carbon steel mora. Take small tea light candle and remove from its case thing the rub the wax over the blade, this will reall protect it.

Hope this helps, Robb

Can try car wax, or as I've been doing, soak the blade in hot white vinegar, it helps but it's a permanent thing. BUT, it does leave a very dark finish that also feels a bit like it's been sand blasted, and that will be a better surface to hold oil in rather than the usual polished steel.

First wash your knife really well in hot soapy water (blade) rinse with clean water. The dry lots of kitchen roll. When your blade is completely dry. Rub on a bit of machine oil making sure the oil has covered the whole blade. I have tried olive oil and I to have had the same problem with rust.

The problem with machine oil is that you cant use your knife for skinning or preping food.

I use this stuff which I purchased in 1974, this little bottle will last your lifetime, it has been used for millenia by the Japanese on superior metalwork (like Katana), its a pure and natural product and is food safe.
