I'm frankly amazed that Martin hasn't yet started a thread on here about the best collapsible, lean back, foot rest chairs for poshcrafting... ;)

This is the first time I have encountered this concept and immediately thought "Not me! I am a purist! No bling in my pack...." then I remembered the handpresso coffee maker I was given. I take it everywhere and make a real big deal out of setting out the 4 dinky cups and the, frankly, quite useless, flask on a stump before getting the storm kettle out and roughing it with captured rainwater or condensation. Is this poshcraft or just an addiction to coffee?

When I go out alone I use simple kit and some lightweight kit as well.
When at meets and the such I have a bigger set up with Jerry can stove, large tarp, camp cot, camp chairs, tables and a pretty decent cook set up although some of the guys who I go regularly with have even bigger more comfortable set-ups I am still learning :)
With are having another meet in december which we are planning of having a full christmas roast sit down meal. So no hardship there.

This could be an addiction to coffee, however if the rain water becomes distilled Himalayan Rainwater and the coffee becomes Kopi Luwak, then I am afraid you will have been subject to a severe case of the "Poshcrafting Syndrome", this is unfortunately terminal and wallet death occurs in an undetermined period of time afterwards.
If Symptoms continue to develop please drop Martin a PM he may be able to give you some hints on surviving / living with Poshcrafting Syndrome

Poshcrafting is 'beyond bushcraft' :p It's firing-up the stove in the moring to boil your billy-can and steam your flanels for a hot-steamy face wash :)

Hi karl82,
Is the 'potjie' you refer to a Seth Efrican potjie with the three legs? If so, I've used these loads (used to live in SA and did national service there as well). They're great!!!

or am I missing the point. Is it only really poshcrafting when you get your butler to carry in the bidet and plumb it up for you.

Oh yes, there is a distinction between Posh and Expensive. I have some expensive kit, but then I'm out many weeks of the year and I want it to be both good and light. Posh kit, in my opinion, is things like pillows (proper pillows, not blow up pillows), pyjamas (though there is a case for PJs and sleeping bags) and filter coffee (OK, that's one of mine :) )

The thought was running through my head... 'I like that idea.. I could do that.. Hummmm'
I guess I would need a little rack in my billy to keep the flannels out of the boiling water, just so they steam.. who's up for a commission?

Poshcrafter tip: You know you can use Exped (the best, obviously) dry bags to steam - with a boiled (sterile flannel)- any cotton cloths needed for a wet shave / discrete cleaning procedure.

I think I might just be a hardcore poshcrafter....
On my last camp (the only thing in my defence is that is was a static scout camp and my car was right next to my tent)
I took.....
A double blow up bed c/w electric pump.... A Double duvet and yes a real pillow.... lmao....
Is there any hope for me or have I gone too far, beyond the dark side and over to the Posh side?

I'm pretty sure they do. But it's not titanium just the same cast iron BUT... it's got a 'Woodlore' stamp on it and comes in a presentation box. Good value to only £599.
I've ordered two, one for my main pack and one for my impossibles pouch.

I just came across a quote from a Scouting forum... This could be the ultimate poshcrafting tinder....
Drum roll please....................
"tumble dryer fluff is ace" - "we sprinkle it with a bit of glitter too - fairy firelighters!"
To be fair they where talking about the 'Beaver' section which is 6-8yrs old.
I wonder if Silvermans do that too??

My only concession to poshcrafting (poshcamping) is a real pillow that my wife cut into 2 halves and re-sticthed. Either one of the halfs or both can then be put into a vacumn bag (the sort you rollup tight to expel the air) and rolled up with air removed so its fits into your pack.
I've tried various flavours of blow up pillows and bags stuffed with clothes and it doesn't do it for me so in the end, i went for a real pillow. Half size with a sleeing bag is perfect.

I can see the appeal of the real pillow. Tried using a dry bag partially inflated when at Dave Budds last weekend, didn't work too well this time round. Mind you, that was the least of my problems after waking up with frozen feet. It took ages to get the feeling back!
New sleeping bag time I think.

This item has to be a joke hasn't it? It surely can't work. If you think about it, you would need to keep the stove running all night long to keep the water warm which is surely not practical. If you don't keep the stove going to heat the water, the water will go cold and will suck all the heat out of your body, leaving you freezing cold.
Not posh enough I'm afraid. :)
