Can anyone identify this funny fungi then? It looks like an egg made of jelly! I believe I know what it is and I'm pretty sure it's edible if you could bring yourself to try it ;)

I'd say thats a Stinkhorn (Phallus impudicus) in its early stage, just before the rude bit starts to grow. Starts of looking like a hard boiled egg, the outer breaks down to reveal jelly like stage and finally the horn itself grows.

Anybody concur?

Disected this one at college the other day. Eat it if you must, I'm sure it tastes lovely!

Yep! It's a Stinkhorn in it's early stages, well done Mike & Gary.

So has anyone tried one of these jelly/egg like fungi?
