Making a hammock

I thought to myself that the hammocks that you can buy cost too much, and I could probably make one for much less.
I managed to make a good one for pretty much nothing (old sheet, string, rope). It works really well and I'll try to post a picture soon.

Crikey, hammocks are cheap on Fleabay, aren't they? Got to be the ideal way of dealing with Grand-children. Usually I bundle them up in an old tarp and roll them under the van... They might actually enjoy camping for a change :)

I'm suprised you need to worry about them camping after putting them through that. Is there anything left of the grandkids after youv'e run over them? :D

Unfortunately yes... The worst thing is that all their evil little friends also want to go. They get to make Damper bread, light fires and eat strange things like roasted reedmace root. The thing is that they do the things that kids want to do but are stopped by their "right on" parents

I know where you're coming from on this one. As a Scout leader we let the troop loose with knives and axes, lighting fires and running havoc through the woods generally doing the things that we used to do as kids. The look on some of the parents faces when they come into the hall to pick up their loved ones just to see them as they are swinging an axe into a lump of wood is priceless.

His Diy hammock pages are very useful and has some inspiring ideas for midge nets etc.
I made mine based on the W lay whipped end hammock he shows on here. Also got the idea for my separate midge net too (I copied Mirages idea).
