I went out on friday night to a local wood.It started to rain and became heavy at times. The rain was much needed.I built a fire and cooked some bannock. My first try using a kind of home made dutch oven.
Slept soundly but woke early to lissten to the dawn chorus.Heard the cuckoo then made some nettle tea.I would have preferred hot chocolate but I didn't pack sufficient.
Made a video which can be viewed on youtube by following this link.In it I try to explain my preferred method of hammock setup.Would have showed the tarp setup too,but the rain started hence no time to film that.
Here's the video:

Hope you enjoy it

Hi there
that bannock did indeed look good, pity we don't get the smell on youtube... I've just got into hammock camping and have been messing around with different set ups after looking on the hammock forum and youtube. Mine is pretty similar to yours with climbing webbing tree straps. However I replaced the webbing on the hammock with 350kg climbing chord that is only 4mm in diameter. This I attach to the tree strap with a couple of Marlin spike hitches. I may go the whoopie sling route, but can't easily get the amsteel here in France. Another thing I got off youtube that I've found good is to set the tarp up diamond style. I gives a bigger areas to sit under and only uses 4 attachement points.
I see you've got loads of videos I'll have to check some out.
thaks for posting this one.
cheers

great vid sandy, very informative, you had my mouth watering when you broke open that bannock bread, there's nothing better as you settle down for the evening than a nice bit of freshly cooked bannock and a mug of tea.

Excellent video, I had my doubts about your bannock at first as it looked a little wet but I was wrong so please accept my apologies for doubting you.
Keep the videos coming mate.
