A lot of this stuff is slow making it's way to Australia, so I'm guessing some of you blokes (and blokettes of course) might have used these. Any thoughts?

Not used one yet, but have been thinking of getting a couple for a couple months now. Will be interesting to see if they actually work ok. Heard they leave a bad taste in the water.

I've got one of these "Travel Tap by Drinksafe Systems" (http://www.backpackinglight.co.uk/product353.asp) which looks pretty much the same.
The only problem that I have encountered is the flow rate from the filter. It certainly doesn't give a bad taste, in fact it is entirely the opposite, making bad water taste better. Sadly, the poor flow rate means that I don't carry it with me. On Ten Tors this weekend I expect I'll be taking ClOČ tablets along with neutralising ones. If they could do something about the flow rate it would be my 'turn to' means of water purification.

i've not used the Clear2go Water purifier but i do use this one http://www.sawyer.com/SP122.htm and i have yet to find any problems with it i've had mine for over a year now and its as free flowing as ever, in fact you just back flush it when the flow rate slows. the company give you a million gallon guarantee, now thats what i call confidence in their product. it uses the same Hollow Fiber Technology that the M.S.R. Hyperflow Microfilter now uses, (which is cappillary tubes which are used in dialysis machines in hospitals for filtering blood) and its a helluva lot cheaper than the msr.
the two main ways i use mine are (1) as an inline filter with a bladder in my pack when just out for the day and topped up as and when required with whatever water is at hand and (2) if out with a mate we will use one dirty bladder and use it with the filter as a gravity system to fill up whatever we are using we find this system works best on multiday trips.
i did have to order the filter from america though but with postage it still worked out less than the drinksafe one, which as martin says does not have a particularly good flow rate and will get progressively worse as it reaches its 1600 litre lifetime whereas with the sawyer you just backflush it (which can be done in the field) and it flows like the first time you used it, and the flow rate is on average 1L per min. i'm in no way affiliated to the company just one very satisfied customer:D:D:D
heres my setup ready to go

Looks good. They need to sell these over here, they would make a decent amount of cash from it.

couldn't agree more crazysaint, they got quite a nice lot of gear over in the states as bushcraft/survivalism has quite a big following over there and its well catered for, which means things are always well priced but the postage costs usually put a dampener on things when it comes to shipping over here, but every now and again even when accounting for postage you can still get a good buy.

Has anyone tried this filter yet?

Was thinking of getting one for my Source hydration pack as an alternative to chlorine dioxide tabs.

No but I've used the Aquamira Frontier (http://www.thebushcraftstore.co.uk/aquamira-frontier-pro-us-military-issue-water-filter-1044-p.asp)which is cheaper and works brilliantly.

Had a look at the Aquamira and definately in the running. Just not quite made my mind up on whether to go for that one or the inline filter from Pure hydration. Still got a bit of time to make my mind up.

Like I said, never used the other, so it may well be even better. Have you seen any reviews online for either of them?

There are some vids on youtube but I would say the majority are manufacturers stuff so got to take it with a pinch of salt. The thing that will probably decide it for me is flow rates when free running from the bladder into another container. More research required.

I'm guessing flow rate for the aquamira will be pretty low, as the bitevalve is built into the filter, might be awkward to drain from container to container.

Cheers Adam. I'm sure I read somewhere that the Aquamira can be set to free run, just got to find the review again.

I'll bring the Travel Tap to Dartmoor if you want to have a look Jus. May be of interest to you.

Thanks Martin. I am going to attempt to get something for the Dartmoor trip but have bought tabs anyway just in case. I would be interested to see different versions for future choices and maybe put the comparisons on the forum for reference.

It will gravity feed but obviously this will be at a pretty slow rate.

hmmmmm. I think whoever finds a cheap, pump free, filter system, that gravity feeds at a reasonable rate, should tell all of us ASAP. :)
