Can and bottle from pound land. Base is a sweetcorn tin and heavy gauge 1/4" chicken wire with a penny stove for the heat. I have drilled holes around the base to alow the heat to rise inside the tin.

Hi Andy... nice one, glad it worked for you. Did you try using the sweetcorn tin 'full height' with a hole for air intake like on mine here ?...

Hi Paul, Just half a tin, creased at the first ripple to mask the sharp edge's, no hole. Seams to work ok.

It looks to me like a bit of flame is escaping the chimney because your chimney is on a wire frame base. If you could enclose the wire frame base then I think more flames would rise inside the chimney, closer to the bottle, which would/should be more efficient I think. This of course all coming from someone who's yet to make one! ;)

I noticed that too, but didn't think about the efficiency part. At 2.25minute for a 1L boil, it seems pretty efficient already. If you didn't want to go the whole hog with enclosing the fire box, you could go for a fine mesh. This would still allow oxygen to retain it's presence, as well as contain the flames.

I removed the wind break to take the photo. The flame go straight up when the burner is protected from the wind.

The bottle and the tin are both from that great store "Pound Land". As of now the coating has'nt come away.
