I have often wondered if it's just me who doesn't seem to know anyone who enjoys the outdoors so much...
I often end up wandering hill tops and woodland on my own. I have found cheap-ish ways to get to the continent but I find myself hesitating to go alone.
Anyone else?

I say, go on your own. I have found that you meet much more interesting people and have better experiences if you travel alone. When you are with a companion, it is too easy just to stick with them, talk with them and do the middle of the road things that suit both or all of you. You find that you don't actually leave your comfort zone and take any risks.
I love being with good company and my friends are very very dear to me, but I also enjoy my own company and the ability to do as I please.

Go alone and enjoy others company, and make new friends. Or go with friends and still make new friends. I find Bothying in scotland is great for this kind of relaxation.

Any time spent hiking is better than no time spent hiking
