Can anyone help me identify this plant?
I thought it was yarrow, but doubtful now.
In one of the pictures there is a beech nut on a stick, to give you some idea of size. The flowers were white or mauve/purple.
I'm sure I've seen this plant identified somewhere before and would love to know what it is, and uses.
Anyway, here's some piccies (unless I suffer the curse of the little red crosses...)

Looks like heather/ling (calluna vulgaris) to me.
