Great pics there mate. How far did you walk? I guess you didn't do the whole 96 miles in two days? Or, did you spend longer out?

Nice one.. I always wanted to walk the Cape Wrath Trail, which is a continuation on from the West Highland Way. Supposedly one of the toughest trails in the Country and covering around 170 miles (I seem to remember), and very very remote. Two parts of the trail you are totally on your own (no houses, shops etc) for three days at a time, which is quite something for this tiny little well inhabited Island.
I got me all the OS maps (9 of them lol), bought the book by James Patterson, who made the trail, and plotted the route, but sadly never got around to it. One day maybe..
I would love to have the time and funds to start in Glasgow and walk to Cape Wrath over THE (imo) most beautiful part of our Country.

Is that the one which continues via inverness?

No, it continues on from the end of the WH Way in Fort William. It goes up the Caladonian canal for a bit then heads North through the wilderness using stalker paths. It goes past a few places you can resupply, like the Cluannie (sp..?) Inn and Ullapool etc, but a big pack will be needed. Its a serious undertaking and some folk have died trying to make it, as you have to cross quite a few rivers.
This is the book, if you are interested.. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cape-Wrath-Trail-North-west-Highlands/dp/0952190818/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1313945283&sr=1-2 Its not a good book to read, but it describes the trail in good detail. A few other people have made variations to this trail, but I think this is the guy who thought it up in the first place..

Criket ow'd they die? exposure?

I was going to crack on with the other 3 Scottish trails (Great Glen, Southern Uplands and Spey Way) - hopefully do something a bit more wild when I get more experience.... learned the hard way this time that both dry bags AND a waterproof bag cover are a good idea...

Well done mate. Crackin photos. Did you get water from streams/rivers on your journey. How did your feet hold up, any blisters?

cheers man

yeah had water tabs with the ration packs So used them for when i felt it necessary..most of the water was straight from up above as it was though, rained most of the time.

Feet were a bit battered as the very first day was a 27 mile ish walk and the pack was full, no major blister issues though. Most of the pain was simply sore feet from walking so much on rocky old roads so much!

How many miles did you do on the subsequent days? Was it a nice 15 mile stroll or did you try to bash out more each day?

ehh I think it went like 27-7-7-12-19-25 - walk was harder at the very first part so probably just the two days to recover from that
