i dont know if anybody else uses these machines etc,if youre anything like me,youll be left with a load of copper coins each month, and havent always got the time to count and walk into a bank, this machine does all that for you and its instant cash ,(well for a small fee lol anyway ).

So who's got a new job with Coinstar UK Operations, then?

Only joking.

I'm not sure that 8.9% can be considered a 'small fee'. Surely, for the small task of counting and bagging it up, it would be better to go to your bank and get 100% of the value of your cash??

yes you are right in what you say martin, but it just takes the hassle out of doing all that and queing up etc, plus some banks are getting funny in regards of small change i know my bank is,unless you have a buisness account.i would advise anybody not to put in silver coins or larger sum coins, just the coppers and you can donate half of what you take in to charity if you so wish, which is what i tend to do nowadays.@ humakt have they got work going then,i need a job,ive had to start voluntary work and do alot more fishing than i used to,because i was getting depressed and fed up :(.

Fair play Kieran, in fairness I never bag it up, I let the wife do it. ;) And, its got to be a good way to donate to charity without missing the loose change in your pocket. :)

I'm the same as you. I save it all up and then use it to buy bushcrafty things - it's money for nothing, as I see it. And over a year you can find yourself with a fair amount. That's how I fund my hobbies and since it doesn't come out of 'proper' money I'm allowed to spend it how I like!

My good lady collects the coppers in an old tin that used to house a bottle of spirits. She also has problems getting the money banked as limits are imposed on how much coinage your allowed to take in before you get charged! I don't mind so much that she collects the money but the bit that bugs me is that she expects me to put MY coppers in there aswell! I only have to open my wallet and she is looking to see whats in there and suggesting for the thousandth time that they could go in the tin.

My local Natwest has a similar machine, no charge but you have to have an account with them as the money goes directly into it. I am not sure if the other banks have these though?
