These sharpening stones any good?

I might buy them as my main sharpening stones, as I don't one yet.

Any good, as these will be my mains ones?

Not the best I'm afraid. The problem with these, or should I say one of the problems, is that the fine really isn't that fine. You will get a reasonable edge but not great. The other main issue is that the diamond grit plate is mounted on a plastic backing that is too thin. The plates distort leaving a very uneven sharpening face.

What about these ones? If I'm correct they are aluminium oxide.

I'm really trying to be on a budget here, ahha. Also is it the higher the grit the sharper the blade can be?

I use one of these with a fine grit. The one you linked is medium/course. Its does the job and works even better by the time the blade is stropped. For out in the field I carry one of these http://www.screwfix.com/p/forge-steel-diamond-sharpening-pen/20835 Again, it does the job pretty well and by the time the blade is stropped I get a pretty good edge.

Bcb Hi the best stones you can get are I think from japan,wet stones I get mine from boot sales,well cheep,I'v got 2or3 and did'ant pay more than a £ for any of them.Have a root about for some, there there you just got to look,

Well I borrowed a friends old aluminium oxide stone, and it got my clipper very sharp after stropping, so I think I will get one of them, and the diamond ones. Thanks.
