Took this picture during the summer, I was coming off the hills after a few days and took this on the long walk to the train station, not a technically great picture but it reflected my mood at the time.

I have just inherited an old 35mm SLR with a lot of manual lenses and intend to exploit them to their full potential. I am not long back from a woodland walk with the kids and shot a whole spool in like ten minutes. BTW nice picture Adam, razor sharp....in fact there are a loads of nice pictures on this thread already, cannot wait to see what else gets posted.

Am I allowed to post more pictures on this thread? Or is one the limit?

Thanks Corvus.

I burn through 1gb an hour with my DSLR

this is a huge factor in why I am going back to 35mm. In the past year I have spent well over £5000 on digital camera bodies and lenses a Canon 5D mk ll and a Nikon D90 and various lenses, for what? to get back home to upload 500 pictures of absolute twaddle. Film has always made me compose and expose a shot properly although todays rapid firing may give a different conclusion to that statement lol and any post processing that can be done on a computer has already been done in darkrooms by our film predecessors so its not really cheating mate :)

I see what you mean, but I went digital for two main reasons...
1: I photograph a fair bit of wildlife (from ducks to deer :)) and when they are going to be moving, I want rapid frame rate with the knowledge I'm not gunna hit the end of the roll any second and miss a great shot ;).
2: I don't have my own darkroom, and I don't like paying someone to develop my snaps lol.

All taken with a Zenit-E and a fisheye lens, on 400ISO film. Wish I could upload them. It's still taking photos now.

Some really beautiful photos folks!

I really love photography, it's not something I delved into in detail, just a hobby but one I love, I've probably taken a phonominal amount of digital photos over the years! (Just checked my 'My Pictures' folder contains 44,632 thousand photos :) ).

I have got lots of favourites, one set as my background at the moment is this Robin I took during Winter, I like how it captured the moment as this Robin has stuck in my mind from that day whilst I was filming, he was ever so inquisitive even landing on my Tripod and Billycan :) ... and how he's naturally framed and as I was snapping quite fast I got one shot of him there and the next instant he flew off I got essentially the same pic of him missing from the frame!

Robins are really sociable birds mate, I have had the same robin follow me for miles and also once fed a robin maggots from my hand when out fishing, what I was surprised to see though on my last outing was a flock of finches (Chaffinches) I think, little pink bellied ones coming within inches of my hands while cooking, looking for scraps and they too stayed with me for ages but they got none of my bannock. lol

I wouldn't want to pick myself as I'm sure there will be hundreds of beautiful photographs and I wouldn't want to feel bad about the ones that didn't make it in. But perhaps there'in lies the fun? - Perhaps we organise some sort of poll or something here on NaturalBushcraft and everyone in the community can vote on which ones they like? Then hopefully we end up with a top 12?

Any suggestions on how to organise this would be greatly appreciated!

Yeah, I think when we're ready (sometime soon) I will start a new thread where people can post their photos into for the Calendar, we will accept entries for 1 month as Adam suggested and then after that month I would change the thread to contain a poll where users could vote on their favourite images. That's the rough idea for now, I'll have a think about complications and kick it off when I'm confident. Thanks again one and all for your input!

Fun fact: Half of these pictures are taken with my Canon EOS 500D with either my 28-135 mm or 50 mm macro - the other half are done with my really crappy cell phone camera.
From time to time I teach a little photography, I usually show these photos and ask my student to tell me which are which. I do this, in order to make them understand the single most important fact of photography; if you understand the three basic concepts; light, composition and depht of field, then it is secondary what hardware your use. Or, as I often put it; "Good photos are created by you, not by the camera!"

Yes mate, twas a shot of wistmans wood taken using the camera+ app rather than the built in camera app. You can also edit pics before saving to the camera roll. For this one I used the miniaturize feature to draw your eyes into the wood :D

If you have some manual settings on your camera, and an ok photo software package, then you should be able to tweek your shots, giving some good results. I get lucky sometimes with my shots, but there are folk that can tell you how to do it.

Nice photo, You can tell it's a high end camera from the speed at which it was taken, compaired to the amount of light that was gathered by the lens, on what looks like a pretty dark day. :)

I spent 6 months over last winter on St. Martins, in Scilly Isles. While it was snowing like mad back home in Yorkshire, I was wandering around on the beaches and enjoying the lovely light they have down on the Scillies. I took loads of shots while I was there, but I particularly like these two. They capture the emptiness of the place in winter, and remind me of some really good times.

Here is one not too far from the house, standing on the bridge going over the Rochester harbor.

Here is one you might not see in the UK. I was invited to a ranch for a "cutting" competition. The cowboy is cutting one calf out of the herd and trying to keep it from returning to it. The horses are the most amazing, they do the work pretty much without any commands. Hope you enjoy
