Last night was my first ‘wild camp’ in many years. I’ve been thinking about it for several weeks now.
I had located a spot about 50mins walk from home.
I already had a tent, sleeping bag, rucksack and other odds and sods. I managed to purchase the last items on Saturday morning (Army Surplus, Ormskirk) and decided to go for it.
To cut it short, I enjoyed cooking my evening meal over the fire, listening to the wildlife around me.
Apart from a couple of gun shots in the early hours, a very peaceful sleep.
Made brekkie using my homemade meths stove (thanks to Adam for the info).
Came home around lunch time, back to the humdrum stuff.
The real purpose of the post, is to say thanks to Ashley and all the crew at NB, as well as all the contributers. The info I have picked up over the last couple of weeks made last night not only possible but safe and fun.
They say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks….you just did.
Thanks
Tony
