2656There is a bush near me which is loaded with these fruits.
Does anybody recognise them?
Can anybody recommend a good fruit-recognition website? :happy-clapping:
Thanks

The reason I ask is that it looks so much like a lychee it's uncanny.

I'm not sure that Lychees would thrive outdoors though, even in Sussex.

That's the fruit of the Strawberry tree (Arbutus unedo) You can use the fruit to make jam or even better, use it to make alcyhol,,,,,,,, hic. :)

Thanks, guys. The fruits asre similar to lychees, but more spikey.
I agree with Martin, Sussex winters would be too unkind.
Strawberry tree...I'll check that out (hic)! THanks

Interesting that that very image is on this website:

The only thing is, the image is reversed. I wonder what the chances are of that happening?

Hi Martin - well, that's explicable...I went looking for an image of the fruit, found one which didn't say what it was (!), doctored the image to tighten and avoid obvious cribbing, and then asked...

How do you find a photo of something you don't know the name of?
I wouldn't know where to start.
