View Full Version : The Gift It On Thread

This is the thread where you can share some generosity with the Natural-Bushcraft Community...
:camping:
The rules are simple - If you have something you would like to give-away as a gift to another member, post it up here.
The person who is giving will pay the postage costs, make sure you state which country/area you are willing to post to.
Whoever posts first saying they would like the gift gets it.
Whoever claims a gift here must be willing to at some point give away a gift themselves to another user on here (it doesn't matter how big or small) and they must be willing to pay the postage to send the item (like the first person did).
Don't post 'WANTED' asking for particular things.
We will limit gifts to a maximum of one per month per User (so that the hardcore-regulars don't bag all the gifts because they're on here more often - I know Martin can get into a frenzy when there's new toys on offer!)
Enjoy Giving & Making Friends

I'll get this going!
I have to offer a wind up back up battery charger, I have an iPhone now & it is not compatible!
Free to a good home! Who wants it, that's got something to put up?

Isn't that going to stop people offering heavy items?
Can the "offerer" limit the postage distance? For example mainland UK only? I hate to think what it would cost to post a backpack overseas. No, I'm not offering - I do need a day pack though!
If I had something really bulky or heavy, could I say "collection only"?

If I had something really bulky or heavy, could I say "collection only"?It may or may not, it completely depends on the giver & whether they don't mind posting a heavy item. This way it entirely up to the gifter to decided whether they would be willing to post something, no one is pressured into making any decisions and no one is caught off-guard paying for postage costs for an item they didn't expect to be paying for.
Yes I think you could say collection only although I'd recommend people didn't say that all the time.

Or, if it's a heavy item you could restrict postage to your home country only? Don't forget, we have a good number of members from the USA who may well want to get involved with this and it would be a bit excessive to expect them to post large items to somewhere in Europe.
At the end of the day, this is based on good will and we won't expect to abuse that good will by making demands on the giver.

Set it to standard UK first class or £5.00 max????
That'd be my approach!

Sorry, I've got one more question: Can more than one gift be on offer at the same time, or should we wait for the most recent item to be gifted?
PS. Thank you for the gifts you've already given: Your time, your knowledge, your patience, this forum and your website.

Don't worry about all that!! Has anybody come forward for the gift you mentioned above? I can't see that anyone has yet.

Let's not over complicate this folks :(
At the end of the day, this is based on good will and we won't expect to abuse that good will by making demands on the giver. There's no expectations, there's no asking or demands, it's giving and that's it.
To prevent unexpectedly high postage costs we'll say the giver has to state which countries/areas they are willing to post it to, I'll modify the original post to say so.

I've taken part in this kind of swap system on another forum (canoeing) but it's always been the person who recieves the item on offer who picks up the postage costs, which seems a lot fairer to me and will probably encourage more participation, (although i may be wrong!)

I have no objections to multiple items being offered.
If you don't like the guidelines or don't think it's fair - then don't participate.
Please don't quiz or suggest further refinements - either participate or don't!

Can you tell us which phone or phones it is compatible with. I think everyone is assuming it's not suitable for them.
Thanks

I would like to gift a sealed Bear Grylls Box Set containing 4 DVDs, I will pay for postage within the UK. Remember if you accept this gift you are expected at some point to pass-on a gift yourself (doesn't have to be immediately).

Would I be able to accept, then post them on once I have watched them?
And post a HIP FLASK myself! :)

Right -
I have a black t-shirt up for grabs.
This is a plain black t-shirt with printing on the back, click
here (https://docs.google.com/drawings/d/1qpi_lZxgr2SxFVggAIeWND4wfyfAq29xB9dpJVROR8c/edit)
to see the printing, also I should be able to print your name on the front with a small "bushcraft" phrase under it.
Just give me your size, and what you want printed.
I may have more than one available!
(it is brand new!)
