I've got a 3x3, it's huge for one person, but as I often have my dog with me it's fine. He isn't too keen on my smaller tarp, jthe 'Solo' one from Backpackinglight. haven't used it much but I certainly will be come the spring, or maybe even the odd overnighter if it's cold and crispy!

How do you folks who use hammocks get on in areas where there's no trees? or do you just avoid such barren wastelands???

On the floor. In this part of our green and pleasant land, generally trees are found in the valleys so it means having to regain the height lost to find a spot every morning
I have the standard Danish army teltflage, it is 278x180 cm.

I feel a bit silly for having the DD tarp XL now, but then again, if I ever need to hide a transit van in the woods, I'm sorted! :happy-clapping:

I have the 3x3 DD Tarp which has served me well for many years.
My pal has recently bought the 3x4.5 and he has regretted it. He has used it once and found it to be such a colossal hassle that he has thrown it in the wardrobe.

Hi Ade I haven't had a problem at all with mine yet :) I do think it is a bit big at times but for me it keeps the rain of just about everything I have.

Cheers Ben. My pal calls his "the bungalow" lol.
I'm sure in a heavy downpour it would be worth it's weight in gold.

Adrian, if he's not happy with it and would like to sell it on for a reasonable price, I'd be interested.

I have the tarp that is supplied with the Hennessy hammock.... Not actually used it yet and can't tell you the size. Initial viewing of the tarp I'm not impressed with, approx the size of a postage stamp and it's described as the 30% bigger tarp... WAS THE ORIGINAL TARP THE SAME SIZE AS THE HOOD ON MY JACKET? Will see how it fares when I use it.

To be fair to it, it looks like it'll be ok in vertical rain, maybe even with a bit of a wind. But anything horizontal I'll be getting wet... Bivi bag in a hammock? On the plus side I'll have unrestricted views out LOL

I have a Tatonka 1TC which is 4.25 x 4.5m, great for a group shelter when we don't take the 'chute. Also got the DD XL which is 3 x 4.5m, for my hammock I use the Warbonnet Superfly but I'm not sure of the dims for that one, it's big though and the doors are great for winter hanging
