lol yeh! he's going to blend in nicely when it snows. few facts i found out about them:

theres around 100,000 per 2.5 million grey squirrels in the UK, majority living in Surrey! most Albino's are born deaf and blind :( thow im more than certain the way this one was moving he could see and hear. he was tracking the woodys milling around and scarpered when i softly tried opening the back door to get a closer pic!

sorry i got my numbers wrong - found the site again - wow!

''According to wildlife experts the odds against a pure white squirrel being born are one in 100,000.
With a grey squirrel population of over 2.5 million in the UK, in theory this would mean that there are only 25 white ones out there at any one time.'' BBC

Wow! Now there's something I've not seen before :) Thanks for sharing.

IMHO I'm pretty sure he's posing for the picture of the shed-shot!

haha, either that or he's looking at his grey pal with contempt as he managed to grab a hazel nut before i opened the back door and they ran to the shed lol

is it me though or does his tail seem slightly longer?

Nice.....I've never seen a white one either although we did have a few black ones knocking around a few years ago. These days I only ever see the standard grey.

The only place i know of in the south east is Wildwood nature park in Blean woods nr Canterbury. But they are kept in an enclosure. Otherwise the Greys will most likely finish them of, dam tree rats :guns:

Heard there is a small albino community somewhere in the country. They said at the time it was rare to get 2 or even 1, but this place had several of the little critters, will try and find out where it was. Excellent work mate, well captured. :)

Apparently obesity in squirrels is a bigger issue than albinos: http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=fat+squirrel&hl=en&prmd=imvns&tbm=isch&tbo=u

i think the fox got the albino :( it was either him or a stale loaf of bread i threw out a few hours before. will have to keep an eye out.

Won't have been the loaf. They won't eat anything that's even slightly off, or bad for them. They are very fussy creatures really.
