I've been so busy over the summer with shows and courses that I've not posted any of my recent work for ages. Now that the last show of the year is over, I thought I'd share some of the things I've been making :)

This little chopper was made to go to Belgium with me. may not be man enough to fell a tree, but it's sweet and would make a nice little carver

Vital statistics:

Head is 4 3/4" long with a cutting edge of just 1 3/4"
Handle is just under 17" in length (drop through tomohawk stylee)
Total weight 336g

handle is made from fire blackened ash (from my woodland)
Head is mild steel with a cutting edge of EN42J
sheath of cowhide

thanks for looking at my little chopper

Beautiful Axe Dave, I'm liking the blackend-Ash look.

Love the head, not big on the black handle though, I think it takes away from the beauty of the forged head.

Really like that Dave. At that weight, you could sit carving all day.

Superb, it's one cutting tool I don't own, must rectify that some day.

Cool hawk. Before I even read it I thought would make a great little carver soon as I saw the pic

it is a sweet little thing :) I'v got a small hankering to make a bunch of little axes like this now. I should really get on with the backlog of orders first though!
