Will be posting regular updates to it so far just used my hook knife and Mora. I'm making the sheath based on my Mora 840 gonna do the cover soon as I get the center for the knife to seat into carved out. Will be doing up some Celtic detailing on the outside of it as well belt hanger will be an old piece of scrap belt I will either tack on with small nails or staple it on not sure yet. Wood is maple

Wow, there's an effort! Lol, what drew you away from the usual leather or Kydex sheath? The challenge and the carving?

Wanted the challenge of carving plus the wood was free and no money to buy any leather. Will make a leather sheath when I get some cash to buy myself a Mora classic #3 come the summer time besides I wanted to practice some different carving skills

Wood should always be free..............

Hehe, for leather, go to your local charity stores and see about finding a leather purse to make a sheath from, IF you dare (right up there with buying other "women's products", how secure are you with your manhood? LOL)

When in high school I did exactly that, found a black leather purse made from some decently thick leather, bought it, gutted it, sewed it back together in the form of a belt pouch/sporran type thing, worked out really well, and only cost me a couple bucks and some time. :)

Yep very much agree on the price of wood. I find some that just sorta speak to me when out wandering mainly round my yard now :)

Meh have no problem buying a good used purse to hack up thought of modding one to make a saddlebag out of it for my bike to. Only thing is how the hell do you dull them down? I hate shiny leather LOL Do you have any pics of the bag ya made would love to see it

Sorry, I made that in the late 80s, and no idea where it went, haven't seen it in over 20 years. Lol

You can find dull purses too, just a matter of looking. Am sure steel wool might help dumb-down any gloss there might be.
