Looking outside at the snow this evening and, much as I like winter, I'm kinda looking forward to canoe season.
Canoe trips are a big part of our summer; sometimes we get out for a week or more and that's what I love best..
being deep into the wilderness. I'd like to share a few summer canoe trip photos to cheer us all up...

Some of these shots were from Algonquin Park, Frontenac Park, and Killarney Park.
The rest were from wanderings on local Crown land.

I love Ontario!!! :)

The first pic, is that the Baron River in Algonquin? Looks familiar, been on both ends of the cliff about 23 years ago, looking down and looking up.

It does look a bit like the canyon, doesn't it? Actually it's Big Clear Lake in Frontenac Park. We do the Barron Canyon area pretty much every summer.
The east part of the park at the Achray entrance is the closest part for you and me; we can set out in the morning and be on the water by 9am.
Unfortunately, if you're keen on seeing moose, this end of the park has fewer moose than central Algonquin. If you're into bears, however, eastern
Algonquin is the place to be...a bear for every campsite. Yay.

Loons! Love those birds. I've been lulled to sleep by them many times in the Adirondack Mountains. I sat for about 3 hours one day watching a mother Loon with one chick circle a small lake, fishing. They passed within 50 feet of me several times and I got some pretty good shots of them, but nothing like that big, beautiful red eye you've got there.

Lovely pictures, thanks for sharing with all of us.
