Tin mug

As always trying to find ways of cutting costs :):) made my own tin mug
1 baked bean can, appx 8 inches of fencing wire, 3 inch length of elder wood and some scraps of leather for my own touch, and to protect fingers from hot can.

very nice looking mug mate!! you have to be carefull using old food tins, because they're coated in something?? not sure what but we were talking about it in the office, and thats why they never buy dented cans, because theres something in the coating.... not sure might just be a wives tale!!

If you go to places like IKEA you could probably buy some kitchen utensil gizmo that is "safer" to use than a used can but does the same.
A 0,5 liter measuring cup or some small metal box with lid.

You have the hot tin on hands thing covered, but how do you protect your lips from the hot tin? Lol, is why I avoid metal cups for hot liquids.

As far as I know most tin cans, the contents go in raw and are cooked once sealed.
If I'm correct, that means the coating would leech into the food as it's cooking??

Some tinned fruit and/or veg, comes in a tin with a plastic strip along the seam. I think some of the really old cans used to have a coating on the inside, to prevent the tins rusting, when in contact with acids and alkalies in the food. Not sure what the modern versions use though.
