A selection of scottish Pate, mustard and chutney(yum and the jars are just the right size to make tea light lanterns), aftershave, a book about combat stress, and a t-shirt with "eat, sleep.......... mountain rescue" on the front (for obvious reasons)

I got enough money to buy myself a jacket i fancy (mossy oak stormkloth shooting jacket) and of course my early present to myself was my rifle which i bought in september.

Apart from the usual toys my son has just become the proud owner of a Tarp, Bivvy bag, Ferro rod and striker and an Opinel No 9 - its going to be a good year ahead

Alpkit 800 down sleeping bag and bivi as a replacement for my 20 army surplus bag which keeps refusing retirement! Note to self don't test it fully clothed in front of the woodburner in a full stomach! Great fitting bag but seriously warm, especially when testing the bivi too :)

Here's what my brother very thoughtfully bought me. A bag that is the perfect size for a canteen cup brew kit, complete with a can to make a burner out of, a small bottle obviously to put meths in. Absolutely what I was after (once I'm cleared all the smelly gunk out of it).

Damn!!! That's not going to make this any easier. Looking at the Rab Neutrino 400 or the Mountain Equipment Xero 350. I was planning on going to Cotswold Outdoor to try them both out.

Ooh port..that's one of the best things about xmas. It also means you have to get some cheese out to go with it (an added bonus)

I am now the happy owner of a frost river canvas rucksack. Leather straps and brass buckles :) Also a pair of waxed canvas mittens and a shoulder bag.

Fantastic, are they modern or traditional? I have always wanted a pair.

The 1997, which I have had before, is good with cheese. The 1937, I suspect, is to complex to be had with food.

Leatherman surge in black w/molle sheath from my mam and a dajo survivor knife from the girlfriend.

Already had a play with them, the dajo imparticular, and modified the sheaths abit. The leatherman now has the LWF mini from the dajo tucked into the Velcro attached to 6ft of para weaved through flap. The dajo comes with a separate section for the LMF mini and an aluminium whistle, with the fire steel moved into the leatherman sheath, I replaced it with a small maglite. I then attached my primus fire steel (the big chunky one) to the exterior of the sheath. With it being thicker than the LMF mini (scout?) it fits the cutout on the rear of the blade perfect, and thus gives off an amazing shower of sparks (easily twice that of any other steel/striker combo I have.

i've been spoiled rotten this christmas and got something a little different this year, ive been laid up with a back problem since the end of october, and i cant hump a loaded rucksack around the mountains just yet and am restricted to a little daysack as i can only go on small walks for now, so the missus decided against getting me anything bushcrafty seeing as i still cant get out camping just yet and went and bought me a new camera, a fuji hs20, and an LED Macro Ring Flash as my s9600 has been showing its age, but its given me 5 years of sterling service, and will now be relegated to my backup camera.
