We have a leather work expert called Black Sheep. He's just joined the forum and is keen to share his knowledge and skills. I'm sure he'll be along soon to offer some advice.

Get the adjustable groover, very handy!

As is the edging tool, lets you take the sharp edges off your cuts.

Avoid the "auto awl", the results won't be that great with it (but is handy to keep in your outdoors kit for tarp repair), use a basic awl, blunt heavy needles and pliers to get the needle through the holes.
