I can't stand Jonathan Ross so will be good to see him in some very uncomfortable situations. :)

If you want to know more about prehistoric Scotland novels are a good way in.

By Naomi Mitchison "Early in Orcadia" portrays the life of the people of the early Neolithic. While some of the archaeology is superseded it does have an authentic feel and is a good read with a possible explanation of stone circles and The Tomb of the Eagles. This novel was published in 1987 and in paperback in 2000.

An earlier period of the Mesolithic in Scotland is covered by "The Gathering Night" by Margaret Elphinstone. Coracles feature in both books as well a murder, shamanism and tons of bushcraft in the second.

I like that sort of stuff on TV as I think it has the origins of Bushcraft from back in them days :)

I liked the one with Miranda Hart in it. not exactly a tough few days but he said he wanted to take her out of her comfort zone which he did. She's a proper city girl and doesn't like being more than 10 yards from a Costa coffee. And she is a lot funnier than J Ross.

This is a bit like the series that Lofty Wiseman did a few years ago. He took a well known person* in the public eye and then they went off and roughed it. Then Mr Mears did something similar and now it's Bear's turn. I thought the Miranda episode was better then expected and I'll catch up on Mr Woss tonight.

* There was no such thing as "celebs" and other nonentities being called "stars" then :)

Ha ha. Someone should do a series where they take a bushcrafter into a city and get them to order something from starbucks. Sort of a croc Dundee thing. :)

This is actually something that should happen with children in that there are several charities that take inner city kids and give them a taste of the countryside and seaside but nothing as far as I know that takes children from outside the cities and gives them a taste of urban life. Non-city kids do not, as we know, all have well-off parents able to do this for them.

After watching both I found the Miranda Hart one to be much better. I admire bears patience i would have chucked Wossy off that ledge after 5 minutes in his company, he never shut up.

I'd like to know who lugged the sleeping bags and dressing gown and silk pyjamas. They sure as hell didn't fit into the little day sack Mr Ross was carrying. I do like the way Bear likes to have a snifter before retiring for the evening. I'm quite into the idea of that now. The sloe vodka will have to be put into a hip flask for my next over nighter.

Ive ditched the idea of carrying beer and gone for a hip flask myself. Normally a single malt

Now the question is which Tv personality do you want bear to take out to the wilderness next? I quite like the idea of Bear and Bruce Forsyth roughing it in the Artic. :D
