I nearly bought one of those the other month. They were going for about £10 but the dealer called me back to say they were out of stock so I canceled. Glad I did now. I guess they are designed for fuel tablets. As they are Swiss there is probably some very expensive meths burner designed to fit them. If they are used by the Swiss Army they are probably designed to be filled with Hot Chocolate at each Hotel you get posted to in the event of war.

I've burned wood in mine many many times. I just use smaller, finger sized pieces and not pine knots like that chap did. Don't be put off the Volcanoe stove just by this, it's a great stove and works well with fuel tablets, wood and a small meths stove.

ok thanks martin i do like my meths stoves got 5 lolol
When burning highly resinous woods, like pine, more heat is generated, than from non/less resinous woods of the same dimensions. That is especially true with pine knots, due to their very high resin content.
Always "go down a size" when burning highly resinous woods in aluminium stoves and/or when using aluminium pots and pans on a stove fueled with highly resinous woods.

I own a Volcano stove and like many stove owners i know it limits, ive used mine for about 40minute periods and never had this problem, i think like others have said just to be aware of the fuel your using and avoid highly resinous fuel.
