Hi just got a hammock and tried it for the first time on a beach camp using some old 'telegraph poles' that were for a beach shade. Was somewhat unsure of how it would go but it was a great nights sleep. One question, can anyone recommend a good mosquito net that I can use in conjunction with the hammock. I have a Life venture travel hammock.

I'm living in the UAE and so far can only find Lifesystems mosquito nets and there a quite a number of different ones. I have emailed the manufacturer of the hammock but no response yet. Any advice would be very welcome.

I'm planning to take some Explorer Scouts to a desert island for a camp in mid-Feb all being well and am planning to use the hammock, but will definitely need some sort of net as the island is a mix of sand and mangroves. Therefore, I'd really appreciate some advice ASAP as I'll need to source a ht before I go.

Many Thanks

Si

I bought a jungle hammock that came with a mossie net attached already. I've never used the net itself, it just acts as a 2nd layer on the hammock. I've seen a hammock on this site that doubles up as a basha and mossie net all in one. Have a look through the forum for it.

What's wrong with Lifesystems mossi nets? They market some pretty good gear in my opinion.

Hi Martin,

The Lifesystems mossie nets seem pretty good and I can pick one up for around for around 25 pounds, I wanted to get some feedback to see what other (more experienced) people thought before I went out and made the purchase.

Many thanks.

Thanks for the reply Dan.

Will look for the basha / mossie combo hammock.

The pyramid nets don't really work too well with hammocks, the ones I bought and tried didn't anyway. Too much fabric in the wrong place and getting a decent closure can be difficult.

Fox make one I think, Hennie Haines used to stock them a few years ago, the other alternative is to knock one up yourself. Just by a length of netting and ten minutes with a sewing machine and you're done. There's a great company called midgenet over here who sell really nice stuff.

Not sure if this will work, if not go on hammockforums and do a search for "fronkey bug net" (with the speech marks) ...
