Top tip time!!

Don't try to fry Jews Ears, they spit and crack like you wouldn't believe.

They are actually a delicacy in China and are grown commercially for soups etc.

Go on then I will ask the question. Can you get it mixed up with any other type of fungus and where can I find them?

Its very doubtful that you can confuse them with anything to be honest. I've been studying fungi for about 18 years and cant think of any that look the same. The can be found quite readily on old Elder hedgerows and tree's.

I love the crunchy texture, and usually dry them then rehydrate to put into ramen soup or similar.

They're supposed to be really good for you too.

To paraphrase another website..

"There is some evidence that ingesting Auricularia regularly in small doses can be therapeutic in preventing strokes and heart attacks. Other therapeutic uses of Auricularia from modern medicine include lowering blood cholesterol and triglycerides. There is even some evidence it can play a role in treating diabetes They have also been found to have antitumour, cardiovascular, antiviral, antibacterial and antiparasitic effects."
