Wastikivi Finnish Whetstone

Hi guys,

I recently purchased a Wastikivi Wastilla pocket sharpening stone on a recommendation from Jakob; But I was wondering what the traditional sharpening techniques used on this stone are, and what techniques you guys use. http://www.wastikivi.fi/english.html

Use water only. Oil will make the stone porous.

Use like a diamond stone when touching up the edge.

If you need to grind out nicks in the blade, in the field, you can use the stone much like a file. But, this I will only recommend in an emergency - using your larger grindstone at home is a better option for removing edge damage.
