Cheap axe's?

I want an axe and don't want to spend alot, so I was wondering if this is legit?

Looks ok to me, esp for that price.. You may need to do some work on the grind and give it a good sharpen though..
Failing that, have a look around the boot sales (when they start) for an old Kent pattern axe to do up.

Brendan,silverline make some decent tools,but you got to ask how good will that be for 3 quid? Iv'e got a real heavy felling axe in my shed that i recently swapped for a pack of fags,it needs a sharpen and the shaft needs a rub down and a rub down with some linseed oil but if your in the surrey area it's yours mate.If not try the boot sales. I'd find it hard to say without having a look at it, all the usual, is the head firmly fixed etc: But just to make a point, I use a cheap Chinese made hatchet which shiney Bushcrafters would be horrified to even touch.It's brilliant!! ( 6 Euros I paid in Spain) Nice weight, keeps a razor edge and has a proper Hickory handle. The only thing I've done is take the red paint off but apart from that it does everything I need it to do around the camp site.
Not all Chinese steel is rubbish, let's face it, they were making steel cutting weapons when we were braining each other with flint axes.:D :D

Whether £3 is good value or not depends on what you will use the axe for. In my experience, they are normally used for ballast in the rucksack so I'd say represented excellent value for money.

Thanks guys, I think I will buy it I have a few silverline tools, screwdrivers, soldering iron, anyway you can't go wrong for £3.

I'm with Jonny on this one, I much prefer my Kent pattern hatchet over my GB wildlife hatchet,so if you can pick up one of them you'll get more use out of it than a cheapo

This is the axe I use, slightly pimped of course. Sanded off the orange paint and kak varnish, added some teak oil and put a verrrry sharp edge on it via instruction from Matt (thankee kindly).
I considered a GB Kubben for my carving needs, but this puppy does the job fine.
