I have a ton of leather and was wondering what I can make next with it. I have decided on a leather waistcoat. Has anyone made a leather waistcoat or know of a pattern for one. I would be interested in any advice or pointers
Thanks
Ian

I don't know of a pattern for a leather waistcoat but why not pop into a charity shop, find a fabric one that fits you then take it home and cut into its constituent parts. Then you could use those as a pattern. I would guess you could pick one up for a couple of quid.

Don't do the leather waistcoat - it's just a bit TOO Status Quo.
Step away from the leather...

I wanted this one http://www.orvis.co.uk/store/product.aspx?pf_id=5C51&dir_id=466&group_id=473&cat_id=5053&subcat_id=5531
but at £549 its out of my price range so I decided to make my own. I have a M&S waistcoat and I have used that for the measurements.
Thanks
Ian

Ahh, that's not a waistcoat, that's a gilet. That's altogether different. In fact, if you call it a 'Jerkin' then it doesn't have any unfortunate connotations whatsoever. :)

With the exception that it looks like the kind of thing worn by people who have mullet hairstyles, throw beer cans from trucks, and listen to Billy Ray Cyrus records, of course?

Well I've started making it. The stitching is being done by hand so it will take a while.

That's far from truth, Larry the Cable Guy doesn't have a mullet!

I have finished the back, I just need to stitch the decorative strips in that I have glued. Then I will start on the more difficult front with pockets.

Thanks
