Does anyone have one of theese?264 Says on Ragweed Forge that they are good at putting on a razor edge; all help is appreciated!
I have a few old whetstones in my collection; a bronze age one in black slate and a viking age/medieval one in what seems to be schistose mudstone (one of the oldest export articles from nothern Scandinavia). The viking/medieval one looks a lot like the traditional Finnish Wästilä whetstone.
Afaik. I have never seen a viking age whetstone that looked like the ones pictured above.
But, whether these stones are authentic was not the actual question offcourse :)
I have no experience with the these stones, but they sure are beautiful. The stone looks rather hard, I suspect it should be good for finishing tounch-ups and edge polishing, but restoring a dulled edge on one of these stones could take some time.

They do look beautiful, is there a page online for them? I'd be intrigued to see if it had any further info.

I'm going foraging for some whetstones here (http://www.bushcraftuk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=58592&highlight=whetstone) in the spring once the snow has cleared from the high fells.
Hope to bring enough back to knock a few handy stones up.
