This is amazing, a true example of survival in an unconventional setting.

Incredible... I am guessing he was a fit guy to survive that long.
He is extremely lucky to be alive, good on him.

What a lucky fella. Shows just how adaptable and resillient human beings can be

Amazing! - A hard choice to make; sticking with your vehicle relying on it being found for survival after weeks of it not being noticed. 8 weeks without food!

Great news to hear he's doing ok. Would love to know what other kit he had with him.

8 weeks on just snow for water seems incredible, almost at the extreme limit of what the body can tolerate. I would be interested to know more

A little more info but not a lot. I think it will be one of those happy ending stories that we will here nothing about because the press are too busy with all the doom and gloom stuff.

I think it is really good but I also thought you could only go so long without food?

Thanks for sharing those links Justin - yeah even the "Survival expert Dale Collett" sounded intrigued as to what exactly he had food wise and how he rationed it (if he did at all) an amazing feat for the human body. I'm sure the low calorie expenditure was key as mentioned in the BBC video.

The will to survive seems to be the single most important factor in this incredible story, paradoxically though he does not appear to have attempted to effect self rescue, which after a few days in his situation would seem like the thing to do, considering that the chances of surviving for as long as he did are extremely low indeed with out proper supplies and equipment. I expect that by the time he probably considered self rescue, he was too far into starvation for have the energy required to walk though a 1km of deep snow.

I really hope that this man tells his story one day, i expect that there will be a book at some stage.

Wishing him a speedy recovery.

It's the sort of subject that Ingmar Bergman would have done really well.
