I have uploaded a general bushcraft knots tutorial to youtube a while ago.

With this vid

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ny-a9PPLT4 I have a closer look at the Trucker's Hitch and "Trucker's Hitch"-like Knots.

The problem with the Trucker's Hitch is that it is made with quick release knots, and that can be a problem when larger diameter ropes or very high tension is involved.

Let me know if I didn't explain myself clear enough.

Enjoy, p@

Interesting. I have always used the figure eight knot which does not give too many problems releasing but I will play with your suggestions and see how it goes.

the directional figure 8 works fine too, it's a safe knot. i almost never use it because it uses quite a lot of rope and untying is a bit lengthy and less easy compared to butterfly.

but that's just personal preference...
