Errr! What's the point?

Great if you don't mind lugging a ladder or scaffolding around with you so you can put your tent up!:D

Well, as long as they keep inventing this stuff, we have a right to laugh at it. :)

I think this is absolutely brilliant :D

Is it lightweight - No
Is it practical - Probably not
Would I buy one - Not a chance
Does it look ACE - Yes
Would I like to have a go in one if the opportunity presented itself - OH YES!

Inventions like this make me proud to be British :D

Good find Steve, this thread made me smile T^

I suppose the next thing we'll see, are these things stacked one on top of another like condominiums, are there enough wooded areas left, to support such a blight?

If we run out of woodland, there is also a free standing option T^

Don't laugh, I bet it'll be reviewed in the Guardian in the next couple of weeks, and then it'll be the Glamping highlight of the summer.

I live near Glastonbury, I may buy 10, borrow a small wood for a long weekend and offer it as the must be camping venue for next years festival. I have access to a minibus for drop offs........ This time next year I'll be a millionaire:happy-clapping:

...If someone has one them uber p*ssed experiences and accidentally pees in the night, would there be a nice puddle to greet everyone in the central chamber in the morning?

Wow, I really like that .... thing... :D
I think, if I would have the money to buy one, I would do that ^^
But the weight of the bigger versions (3-4 person tent) is a bit too much, I think.
I have read, that it will weigh 30-40 kg.
And the price is a also a bit too much for me ^^"
But it looks really cool =)

I couldn't see any prices on the website - bit of a laugh though :)

I have read, that the price for the 2 person tent is about 2200 € (thats about £ 1729,19).

Do I want a go? YES! Would I buy one? Not a chance!

Their 'concept stand' has a rather obvious design flaw - unless of course there is absolutely no wind and three people position themselves *very* carefully. Is suspect it should be called the 'concept hasn't got a chance of standing for more than half a second'.

My main concern is actually for the trees that are supporting it. The strap lines are wide but at that overall size, strap lines near horizontal, and with three people in there, the weight per square inch at the anchor points is going to be insane to tree killing proportions surely?

The 8 man version - Yikes - 8 fairly light weight people with kit etc. would weigh maybe 1500lbs.

So using a modified calculation from elsewhere...

Force = ( occupants weight/3 ) / ( sin ( rope angle ref. to the horizon)).

Rope Angle Weight Multiplier
30˚ 1
15˚ 2
10˚ 3
7˚ 4
6˚ 5
3˚ 10

I'm going to assume a 10 degree angle as a happy middle ground. 1500lb of occupants would give 9553lbs of pressure at each anchor point. No wonder the big version weighs so much it would have to be incredibly strong.
