Went out for a stroll with the family today and came across these two beauties.

I've been collecting Cramp Ball Fungus/King Alfred's Cakes (Daldinia Concentrica) for years now, but there have to be the biggest I have ever found.

I recon I could cook a burger on each of them :)

Impressive. You do see some real monster sized fungi now and again. Unfortunately I usually forget to carry a camera. :)

How would you cook that Ade, just fry in butter and garlic?

Steve :)

Unfortunately mate these bad boys are not edible. But when they are lit they glow like hot coals.

Doh, in my usual haste I read puffball fungus! I've got a bit' o' crampball in my firekit and I certainly wouldn't consider eating it without either hydraulic jaws (when dried) and a stomach pump on standby!

Thanks for the correction.

Steve :)

It's absolutely heaving with them here. I could go for a half hour walk and get a bin liner full of them.

They work great as coal/ember extenders.
