Amusing but I'm not sure about the "Ray Mears is the wrong shape for survival" comment.

Why can't they just play like good little boys and girls and stop bickering.

I like it and thought it was as funny as the people that were there.
It seems like every survival/bushcraft guru has it out for every other performer on the scene.
It is a bit tiresome to experience really.

It makes me cringe. The only thing anyone will acheive with comments like this is upsetting people that once had respect for them. Yes there can be a funny side to it but really, it makes a mockery of the subject. We expect it from politicians but these guys act as if there is a battle on for favouritism and ratings.

Well said jus_young, I got a lot of time for Lofty normaly but that was just a bit silly. I'm sure he just said what he did for effect. Paul

What I do find a little amusing is that, by the look of the backdrop, this was filmed at the Bushcraft Show where Bushcraft and Survival Magazine are the main organisers I believe. This magazine has only recently started its relationship with Lofty where RM and BG have been involved and spending money on advertising for a while now. That was the Editor in the foreground and if I was him I would be a little nervous by all this.
By the way, I am a subscriber to the mag and have been for the last couple of years. Its a pretty good read and have just renewed my subscription for another two years, but imho some reviews have to be taken with a pinch of salt (my sceptisism here).

As I'm fairly 'Ray shaped' myself, if Lofty's opinion proved to be true, that would be me buggered
It would be easy to over analysis this clip, what Lofty said, the crowds reaction to it and the fact is was recorded and posted, but I won't as if it wasn't mildly
:guns:CONTROVERSIAL:war: it would never have made it on to YouTube in the first place and kick started this little discussion.
It's just a bit of fun.

He's the grey man in all this, just gets on with the job makes no drama's about it, plus he's at the bushcraft show this year so I guess the last thing the event organiser would have wanted is any pr issues !!
I have no issues watching any of them on Tv and would happily sit around a fire talking !!

Seems all a bit silly to me. Why would anyone even ask the question? 5 minutes potential for learning wasted on bad mouthing. As a scout leader you never bad mouth another leader to the kids. Just not professional.
Lets all learn from eachother rather than assume our own ways are always right "because thats the way I've always done it".

Enough!! I can feel my finger hovering over the ban button. This behaviour is simply intolerable on the NaturalBushcraft forum. Take it somewhere else, it's not welcome here!

Bear and Ray entertain in different ways to different folks, just like Survivorman Vs Man Woman Wild, and Dave vs Cody.
In my very humble opinion Ray is about native cultures and living on what the land can give & Ray seems to live very comfortably in the wild.......The other progs are about 'surviving' and only just in some cases - chalk vs cheese I know which Id rather eat ;)

Please guys - I'm a treehugging, bunny stroking, sheep sh..... sort of lentil eating hippy but I don't know if the rain coming on has made everyone a bit narky but that's two postings in the last 10 mins that I've noticed a wee bit of argybargy. debate is good and having strong views helps new ideas form and move on but this site has never really shown any of this before (unlike another forum I've seen recently where there seems a lot of it going on at the moment). NB UK has always debated ideas and informed but not with this sort of edge - group hug????? :guns: (got me at it now!)

Are you saying members here are happy to engage in a mass debate?

Martin has put things back in place, its all nice again :)
It happens from time to time as the written word does not easily convey humour and things can be taken out of context. A swift caning from the mods sorts things out.
