Story
Had planned to test my kit some time ago - got a buffalo sleeping bag from Sapper in exchange for my bergan. I wanted to try out my config for a "super light" config but also had some extra gear incase it went fubar -it didn't.
My only problem was that my bivi bag (Alpkit Hunka) was waaaay too tight... im not even a big guy, had to take my sleep mat out and put it direct on the ground and even then the bivi bag caused me to wake up a few times as it kept riding up/down.
That aside -
Alpkit base inflatable mat was great! made both a good seat and a good sleeping base.
Buffalo bag - did the job, maybe a little chilly but I was in a particularly exposed but of ground, and the bivi bag seemed to be compressing the sleeping bag a little...
everything else was my standard stuff...
You can also see I made a lean to shelter and pulled the tarp over it, afterward removed it and took all my trash....as we do!

Good pics Dave and I like what you did with the lean to. Will you be ditching the Akto for the tarp and bivi then? What was the combined weight of your tarp and bivi compared to your tent?
On another point, we missed the meteor shower too due to heavy showers. I got up at about 0300 and got rained on so went straight back to my hammock and slept through till well past dawn. :)

I have always wanted one of them buffalo bag systems. Was it the inner bag you slept in..?

Nice pics. Like the setup. I have an Alpkit Hunka too, I wish I'd bought the XL as the normal one does feel tight, I don't get any problems with it riding though. With regards to the meteor shower I worked from 5pm to 5:30am, it was very clear and whilst waiting for the a**holes.... sorry customers to drunkenly drag themselves out of the pubs (which can take up to 10 minutes, then they bitch that I'm 10 minutes late!) I watched the sky and I didn't see any meteors.

uhh probably not - I like tents too.
for the changing parts
Bivi and Tarp - 1140g - less bulky, adaptable, needs to be set up
Tent - 1.5kg (ish - slightly more i think) - bulkier, not adaptable, stands alone
Many variables to consider... you'd be really borlorxed if your atko ripped or the pole got damaged or something... however you could get by with half your tarp, or no tarp and just your bivi bag, if you had to. However the atko would almost certainly be far more comfortable if you were waiting out some seriously bad weather...
One thing I did like was that I didn't have any condensation...
