441844194420 Hi this is first attempt at a small stove setup, the burner is a standerd swiss army trangia, with a cut down gellert windshield slotted to take the flange of the burner, like the pocket stove from backpacking lignt - I think it will need some vent holes arround the top and base, but the wife said that she wants her kitchen back so thats end of play for today. I do intend to buy the pocket stove at some point I think it looks great and probably will work well. This little thing will fit into a pocket of my lowpro 400aw camera rucksack without taking up any space, so it will be nice to have a brew when I am birdwatching.
Well any comments, apart from the vent holes do you think there is anything else I should do :confused:Regards Bri

Good idea that one. The vent holes at the bottom are a definate but for the top I would cut a castlated effect (think of the top of a castle tower) . That way the flames will lick around the pot for better heat distribution. It will be interesting to see how the windshield withstands the heat though, especially with a pot or kettle on top as the ally is quite thin on these and will weaken significantly when hot.

Very neatly done Bri. What a fantastically simple but brilliant idea. I'd be inclined to see what the performance is like before taking the drill or the shears to it though. I'm not sure how much oxygen you'd need to get a good flame from meths but it does contain its own. The only reason being, I'd be worried about sharp edges in my pack.

44214422442344244425 well it worked o/k took just over 4 mins to boil 12floz of verry cold water, didn't need the cut out's as there is a gap caused by the metal hinge pins, so next time I use it I will turm it upside down!! "but then the meth's would run out ? now let me think"!!!!!!!!
