Due to me spending all my time doing up my old discovery, I had not been out with the air rifle at all this year, so this evening I went out for a couple of hours. There are soo many rabbits around here at the mo.
I am pleased that I have not lost the touch..

That is so incredible illegal here in Norway. We are not even allowed to shoot hare with a 22LR, as the law says that the caliber is legal for animals up to the size of a hare, but not including a hare.
I am not even allowed to shoot a sparrow with a gun that does not use gunpowder... so we tend to look at air rifles like toys for kids. Even though they can be very powerfull.

What range to you normally shoot at?

Same here! Allthough we are allowed to shoot predators like weasel, fox or badger with 22 lfr oder 22 hornet. roebuck need minimum 5,6mm and 1000 Joule Impactenergy at 100m and everything larger need 6,5mm and 2000 Joule E100. All birds are practically only allowed to be hunted with a shotgun with smallshot aroudn 2,5-2,75mm. Airrifles here are practically only for target practice. Airrifles with more than 7,5Joule at the Muzzleexit are only allowed with a license anyway.

I much prefer shooting with an air rifle than with .22 or a shotgun. Its the fun of the stalk, you need to get closer to the prey. My ideal distance for shooting rabbits is about 25 meters, but I can take them to a maximum of 50 meters. I always aim for the head so there is less chance of an injury and more of a chance of an instant kill, or a total miss hit.
Rabbits are a big problem around here (and most places). They collapse the hedgerows.
Like this.. This used to be an old Cornish Hedge on the boundary here..

Just as well no one had the cash to buy it, agreed much more fun/excitement creeping up on them for the shot :-)

Yeah mate, so long as slingshots arent illegal in the specific state you are in. Bunnies are pest animals over here, so long as the critter dies clean, its fine to hunt them.

I wish we had that many rabbits, the closest I get to that is the misses toy box!

I gave up my shotgun license a few years back, and recently bought a 12ftlb .22 air gun which at first seemed like a kids toy. But it's a tool you have to be capable of a head shot. But it is so quiet I shot a pigeon out of a tree and his mate looked at him with confusion as I was taking aim for the pair, you can't do that with gun powder
