I don't know what it's made from, but probably birch. It holds about 2,1 dl, and has measuring marks inside so it can be used as a measuring cup for cooking as well. It's the Hiking mug from Eagle Products, which is a Norwegian company that makes a lot of nice hiking kit, sadly much of it is a bit pricey.

It's made in a lathe allright.

They also have wooden plates, I often use that, as it doubles as a cutting board.
Here is their web page, if you need more ideas :-)

Thats a google translate version of the page so excuse some funny grammer and words....

By then the weather was moviing in. We,ve had a few days of rain combined with a southerly wind, and that has sped up the melting, so that south facing slopes where free of snow, and was following the ridges as they come down from the hills.

Anyway last night rain turned to sleet, and then to snow...but it's melting as it hits the ground. So everything is soaked. I coukld have lit a fire if I had worked on it, but I am just to lazy to bother...specially since I a<m the type that need napalm to light a fire made from fat wood...

As it happens, reindeer stew is my favourite :-)

I have not hunted for almost 20 years now. I used to go up in the same hills I was in today and shoot wood grouse, Rock Ptarmigan, and hares. And I did some duck hunting as well.
I could go Elk (moose) hunting as well, but I did not have the patience for it when I was younger, as around here that means sitting on a chair, waiting for one to pass by, then shoot it...I liked to stalk my game with a shot gun...

Anyway, one of my many plans, is to get fit enough so that I can do that next fall (2013)...meanwhile I I will re-explore the terrain around here as I have just recently moved back to this place after spending years either abroad, or elswhere in Norway.
