Hey Fellows...
Did the Great Glen Way up to Fort Augustus!
Made a school boy error and put my trangia out using the lid...so have a leaky trangia... I also got bitten by my mora who is now named Jenny.
Cooking real food is possible...but it is a bit heavy and uses a bit more fuel.
Akto is an amazing bit of kit, really outstanding...

Not familiar with this walk. How long did you go for and what distances were involved?
And got to ask, why Jenny?

It's 79 miles in total... I did 30 something... Will be going back for the rest. There is no campsites, just b and b or wild camping. Would not waste the experience by staying in a b and b... There is little light pollution and the sky is breathtaking.
And Jenny, I cut myself on something Swedish by my own stupidity already on another Jenny so it seemed fitting.

I looked at your pics last night Dave. I was filled with an immense desire to get up to Scotland and just take in the highlands!! My foray up Ben Nevis last year was so rushed, and I was so tired, that I really never got much out of the trip.
79 miles along the Great Glen Way looks like a good week long trip and definitely one to put on the list. Is there any public transport from the finish back to the start?

Yeah it's actually pretty well served, you can get from Inverness back to fort William by a city link bus. The route itself though is Less easy to get Off of once started

Hey dude, great trip! and I agree on the Akto, it's top drawer in the single tent department. I have just pimped mine recently to try and shed some weight so I can use it on a long trip in scotland being planned for next year.
when I get my act together I'll do a thread on it for any one who's interested, I have saved around 360 grams so far with a few things left to try so I'm really happy.

Glen how are you making those savings? I am slowly converting to lighter and lighter gear!

New pole, new guy line's and locks, new pegs, I'm out with the tent this weekend so i'll take some photo's and dig out my info on what i did with some prices and websites for you to look at. It's been a gradual thing to be honest , Iv'e tried to keep the costs to a minimum but lightweight gear seems to be more exspensive so Iv'e done a bit at a time.
