Nope, it's not a typo :-)

Here from a Norwegian online newspaper today. The link is to a google translate version of the article, so there may be some out of place words, and funny grammar, but you'll
understand what it's about. For example it did not happen in Florida, but in the Norwegioan town of Florø in the Soutrh of Norway.

Kevin (5) bitten by a deer (http://translate.google.com/translate?sl=no&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.vg.no%2Fnyheter%2Finnenriks%2Fa rtikkel.php%3Fartid%3D10065639)

You were right about the translation, apparently the deer was in two pieces, but still had the strength to stand up and fire at Kevin, with what we wonder? Pity they didn't mention the caliber it used.
Realy dangerous creatures, these Norwegian Deer!

I got bitten by a deer in Japan.... Bought some bran cakes to feed them and one of them nipped me on the back cos I wasn't feeding him.

Deer can be dangerous.

I was cycling through Richmond Park one time and a herd of deer charged across the road, knocking one of the cyclist in front of me off his bike. I do not recall if the deer were being chased by dog and a man yelling 'FENTON!' but they crossed the road in a similar fashion as the do here:

One of the park wardens was near by and ran over to the downed cyclist screaming "Wot cha do dat for?"

There is nothing quite like the compassion capital dwellers show for one and other :D
