Are the torch bearers equipped with a firesteel, in case the thing blows out?

My wife took our 5 year old to see the torch in Liskeard. They waited for ages at Morrisons roundabout with about a thousand others. The torch got nearly to the roundabout then the bearers got into a bus for the trip to Plymouth. All the hype about 95% of the population being within 10 miles of the torch route is a load of rubbish. Its 16 miles to Liskeard and 25 miles to Plymouth.

A little bit gutted that I was out of Cornwall for the torch relay. Compensated by the fact that I spent three days on Dartmoor training for my Walking Group Leader course but was a once in a lifetime opportunity. It was very nice that the moor was practically deserted now that Ten Tors is finished for this year. :)

There was talk of a navigation tutorial at some stage. The plan is to make an instructional film on navigation techniques. July looks good for me at the moment.
