During our trip to the lake, Nan found this stuck in a bush. I think it's from a young female reindeer because of the color. With reindeer the female also have horns, but they drop them in the summer. The males retain theirs until December.
Anyway, theres a future knife handle or two in there :-)
I''ll probably find more if i go up to the montain plateu above us as there is a herd of reindeer up there. Hmm...would any of you knife makers be interested in a trade?
Not for this one as the wife want to keep it for good luck...but any future finds?
Lets say, you get a whole antler, make me a knife and keep what you don't use in the knife for other projects?
I propose this without having a clue what they are worth, but don't expect much, but give it a go :-)
A find up in the mountains would likely be 2-3 times the size of this one.
