Hi all I have been looking around and there does not seem much around this area. So if it is okay with all I will see if I can find some locations around here.
If there is anyone close by then give me a shout to see if we can sort something that would be cool.
I'm planning on going to the next meet up in March but it is a fair old few miles to go alone.

Hi yeah I'm ex Army left in 93 after 17 years I was in the Signals. What is it with ex forces and backs mine is done in to at the min had epidurals and stuff. Now of to see the Surgeon sometime soon but trying to dodge it. Whats SADF (South African Defence Force i think but a bit unsure sorry). We could all pull up some Sandbags and swing the lamps it will be a cool weekend. What sort of bike do you have then?

Spot on with the SADF but it was national service (family lived in SA for a while), and this was in 84/85 and because I was a 'rooineck' (Englishman) got f****d around quite a bit and ended up doing recce in Southern Sector Angola, meeting up with Rhodie ex 'pamwe chete' (Selous Scouts/mercs) for info. Anyway, that's for round the campfire!
Yeah, back's buggered (trapped nerve and sciatica) and I'm having a discectomy in a couple of weeks. Got the injury on a sailing course of all things!!!
Look forward to meeting up at some point - you too Tony.

Nice bike I used to ride a Harley Springer Softtail back in the 90's had to give it up tho when I left. Still want to get one again someday and forever dreaming about it. Seems we have the same back trouble mine came from a few bike accidents and doing silly stunts for a selection course in the White Helmets. Anyway need to save the stories for a weekend LMAO

Hi All,
This has to be the first time I've seen anyone into bushcraft from this neck of the woods on the Internet. Most of my friends think I'm mental wanting to spend time in the 'wild'! There's some great places around Ipswich.

I have been trying to find a place around here but till now I have not had much luck. It doesn't help me a lot either not being from the aarea either so any help aor tips would be nice.

Hi ya ben,
Saw ya post and was the main reason I joined this forum.
I'm from Ipswich myself and know the problem you face. However there is one forest that is available on the outskirts of Ipswich. I've asked permission before and the women said " I'm not the owner but I'm sure he wouldn't mind as he doesn't live around here anymore." She allowed me to have a fire too.
The forest is off a nice size, lots of variety of trees, deers graze there, also rabbits, squirrels and foxes roam the woods as well as the odd snake. There is a pond as well, not sure if its any good as I don't tend to stay in the same area, but think I've seen some old mans beard there.
Could send you the location and directions if you like?

I can see this is an older post but I am in Beccles, and we got plenty around the norfolk broads although fires 'arent permitted it still is a lovely area, there is also a camp site between beccles and saxmundham that allows real floors fires and is a great little place, if anyone is interested for a night under the stars? I personally prefer it when the winters is here.

Hi Ben
I've been on a bike once in my life and I've never been in the army, but I hope you won't mind me saying hello. I'm newish to bushcraft, by way of a roundabout route that includes climbing and some bits of mountaineering and a lifetime's worth of camping, and I'm trying to meet some like minded people in Suffolk. I'm based in Ipswich, and without wanting to ride the back on anyone else's hard work, I wondered if anyone local-ish has any good haunts they might be prepared to let on about, or if there is anyone out there who might fancy a couple of nights out as the evenings draw in. It'd be good to hear from you, and maybe pick your brains.

Hi Tony, thank you. You make your own knives?? until the wilderness gathering this year, I'd have said that between them a mora, a bushman and a laplander had all my needs covered, but then I held a gorgeous Eka... I can see that they could become a dangerously pricey habit...
